About

Mice are commensal rodents; they have learned that humans offer them easy access to their basic needs, and they won’t delay in taking advantage. While mice like to live with people, we don’t feel the same. Mice are invasive pests that cause damage, spread disease, contaminate food, and make themselves a huge nuisance inside our homes.

Mice are small and agile; they move quickly and can run, jump, and climb, making them difficult to keep out of our homes. Some of their most common entry points include:

  • Gaps in the foundation
  • Open chimneys and vents
  • Holes in the roofline
  • Spaces around wires and pipes entering your home

Food odors and the promise of warm, safe shelter typically attract these pests to our houses.

In conjunction with partnering with a rodent control expert, the following tips will help you avoid sharing your home with mice and other types of rodents. Use caulk or expandable foam to seal cracks and gaps in your home’s exterior and space around utilities. Keep caps on chimneys and screens and covers vents. Limit their access to food by keeping lids on trashcans, storing food out of their reach, and regularly vacuuming your home.
